We will walk you through how to turn on iCloud Backup or initiate a new backup on your iOS device. This is something we always recommend doing before coming in for any iOS repairs.
1. Open Settings.
2. Click your name on the top of the screen.
3. Select iCloud.
4. Scroll down until you see iCloud Backup, click that box.
5. If iCloud Backup isn’t on, swipe the button in the top right corner to turn it on.
6. If it is on, you can press “Back Up Now” to initiate another backup.
If it does not complete your backup, double check that your iPhone storage is less than your iCloud storage. If necessary, you might need to upgrade your iCloud storage from the free 5GB plan before doing a complete backup of your data.
The plans are as follows:
- 5GB – Free
- 50GB – $0.99/month
- 200GB – $2.99/month
- 1TB – $9.99/month
iCloud backups are beneficial because it will automatically backup every evening if connected to WiFi and power while the phone is locked, this takes away the stress of remembering to back it up to your computer. Another positive of iCloud backups is that they are less likely to copy software glitches allowing you to be more likely restore your iOS device without previous software glitches.
